About the Organisation
Provide support and teaching to children and young people with hearing, vision or multi sensory impairment, their families and educational settings from time of identification / diagnosis (which can be from birth). We provide support to promote child's development, to enable children and young people to access the curriculum and develop skills to promote achievement and independence. Supporting their families, carers, schools and early years settings to meet the equality duty and ensure access as well supporting and other agencies. The support provided includes specialist assessment including statutory assessments, supporting parents/carers, EY sessions and opportunities for parents to meet each other, training opportunities to educational settings and others, direct teaching for some children with high level of need, environmental audits, advice at transition, etc.

How do people access your service?
There is no cost to support/teaching required by children and young people with sensory impairment however, we do charge for other work that is not for a child with sensory impairment, e.g. we can provide training to educational settings and other organisations to raise awareness of sensory impairment, etc.

How do you aim to meet the unique needs of the child?
To achieve this we work with parents/carers soon after diagnosis to give information and help them promoting their child’s development. We support the development of communication including sign language for deaf children, and teh development of tactile means of communication (Braille, Moon) for children and young people with vision impairment. We provide advice and direct teaching to ensure chidlren and young people access the curriculum and we provide specialist assessments such as language, communication, IT, etc. We also offer family sessions for children in the early years where children and parents/carers can meet others, access a range of activities, specialist resources and information.
How do you promote positive relationships and ensure good, ongoing communication with families?
We communicate directly with service users throughout our work with them, we do annual questionnaires to children and young people (from KS2), parents/carers and educational settings’ staff to gather views on the impact of our support and how this has contributed to meet the child or young person’s needs. We use quality standards for sensory support services and work in partnership with parents.
