About the Organisation
Soundwell provides music therapy within the South West for adults (18+) whose lives are seriously affected by mental health issues. We support people in their mental health recovery and provide emotional support to carers, using music to explore creativity, communication and expression. This can rebuild hope and transform lives. We sometimes have sessions available for adults (age 18+) with dual diagnoses of autism or a learning disability and mental health issues, but mental health need must always be present in order to access our services.
Music therapy is the use of musical instruments and the sounds they make to promote change and recovery.
All sessions are participatory and user friendly - people have a wide selection of accessible, multicultural instruments to use. People do not need to have had any previous musical experience to participate in sessions.
Our aim is for people to experience an improved quality of life and get their confidence back - music therapy can be especially helpful if you’re experiencing difficulties in relating to others.
Soundwell's dedicated team of music therapists provides a community based music therapy service in Wiltshire, B&NES and Somerset for people with severe mental health needs and those experiencing emotional or mental distress (including personality disorders).
