How do you aim to meet the unique needs of the child?
The school will endeavour to ensure that students with special educational needs have access to the curriculum by the use of such strategies as flexible grouping of students, adapting timetables where appropriate, and the sharing of resource and expertise where beneficial.
Where appropriate, and possible, teachers are flexible about organising and managing teaching groups to increase the support available to students with special needs. We also aim to extend and develop skills and resources that will aid differentiation to meet each student’s specific requirements within all areas of the curriculum. Classrooms and activities are organised to support students with special needs by such strategies as support from Teaching Assistants and support teacher, appropriate oral language and instructions and co-operative group working.
How do you promote positive relationships and ensure good, ongoing communication with families?
Parents/carers of students on SEN support or above are invited to join meetings/reviews of Individual Progress Plans (IPP) or Annual Review of Statement of SEN/EHC Plans. Informal visits are also encouraged and take place as necessary.
All parents/carers will be informed in writing, of any placement or change of their student on the SEN register.
