About the Organisation

SWALLOW (South West Action for Learning and Living Our Way) is a registered charity based in Midsomer Norton, Somerset supporting teenagers and adults with learning disabilities. We provide help and support to our members from all over Somerset.

Our aim is to promote independence and equality for people with learning disabilities in a user involved supported environment. We want to support our members to gain the skills and experiences they need to be able to live the lives that they choose. We work in the following ways:

Supported Housing
SWALLOW supports tenants living in purpose built property in Midsomer Norton. We provide tailored one to one support. SWALLOW also provides floating support, when required, to people living in the local community. We are looking to develop further supported housing opportunities in the future.

Education and Training
SWALLOW runs a series of courses to develop independent life skills and creativity allowing each person to fulfil their full potential. The courses that we run include art therapy, poetry and video, healthy fun and fitness and music workshops.

Base House
Base House is a 4 bedroom training home specialising in preparing teenagers and adults with learning disabilities for independence, they can learn new skills, make new friends and help others. At our training house, Base House, people come to stay one night a week in a group of three, supported by SWALLOW staff. The Base House also works closely with local schools such as Fosse Way School and Three Ways School, for further information please contact us.
